Fundraising Campaign for Computers, Heater, Air-Conditioner & Electric Tricycles (Sep 2013)

The Latest Development of the Luoning FAMILY ANEW APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM, and Our Needs

Luoning ChildrenComputer

In 2012 The CEO Foundation (“CEO”) extended its serving capacity into a new location, Luoning, which is one of the poorest counties in China.  Through an existing program, the Family Anew Apprenticeship Program (“the program”), it reaches out to potentially over ten-thousand children living under poverty and in hardship.  The program focuses on character-building, academic tutoring and creativity development.  It aims not only to groom the children to becoming productive members of the society, but to give them a fair chance to excel in their potentials, breakthrough their previous misfortune and build toward a brighter future.  With your generous support since the beginning of this year, the CEO Family Anew Apprenticeship Center (“the centre”) is now in its first phase operation, i.e., CEO Kindergarten (launched in July 2013).

The community expresses positively to the program since its commencement.  A feature article written about CEO by a primary local news media is attached for your reference: https://lywb.lyd.com.cn/html/2013-08/02/content_960388.htm (in Chinese only)

Your support will help us continue to equip and operate the centre to its fullest capacity.  Please refer to the followings for the different areas of our needs: –

1) Desktop Computers  (est. cost HK$3,800 per set #, target: ≧ 30 sets)

The knowledge and ability to operate a computer and the utilization of the internet have become essential communication and educational tools today.  The Apprenticeship Program includes equipping the beneficiaries with such skills, knowledge, and wisdom.

# one set = 1 desktop computer, 1 monitor, 1 keyboard, 1 headset, 1 web-cam and basic operating software

2) Air-conditioners/Heaters – ≧ 35 (est. cost HK$4,400 each, target: ≧ 35 sets)

Luoning’s temperature varies widely throughout the year (winter: below 0°C; summer: ≧ 38°C).  It is necessary to have a safe and suitable learning environment for the children.

Our Needs for the “Family Anew Foster Care Program” in Luoyang

3) Electric Tricycles – ≧ 2 (est. cost HK$5,000 each, target: ≧ 2)

With the challenge of extreme weather conditions in Luoyang, in 2009, a number of electric tricycles were provided to the foster parents in our program in order to take their foster children daily to-and-fro the LCWI (Luoning Children Welfare Institute) for rehabilitation therapy. Due to the wear-and-tear usage day after day, at least two of the electric tricycles are currently in need to be replaced while more are anticipated in the days and months to come.  Donation is now called for to procure these tricycles.  For more information please see:
